I met Simon Goode late in 2011 after my return from the States. Whilst I had been visiting print shops, Simon had also done a similar trip around the same time visiting and researching Book Arts centres in the USA with the hope of setting up the UK’s first open access Book Arts Centre. Whilst he had been collecting presses, cabinets and furniture for the best part of 5-6 years before this point my first point helping him move things was when we cleared a collection for presses from the now defunct Nautilus Press in West London earlier in the year.

Now the day has come, Simon has found a suitable space in Fish Island, Hackney Wick and we are ready to move in his collection of presses and resources. Along side other volunteers I was on hand to help unload and organise things including the Vandercook SP-15, FAG and Farley Proofing presses that we previously moved from the Nautilus press. Alongside the presses was a beautiful hand operated cast iron guillotine which, after a day of scouring off the rust came up beautifully.
